In August 2021 we finished to write, publish and print a high-quality book on using ERA (European Roleplay Approach) in youth work. It is aimed at youth workers wanting to use role-playing in their activities “to train and develop skills while having fun”.

As a perfect starting point, the book explains all necessary aspects, from general topics like “What is an RPG?” or “Where and how often should you meet?” to in-depth specifics like “How to handle difficult players?”.

A group of 4 youth movements active in the Dragon Legion Network successfully concluded this three-year-long Erasmus+ project. The book has been created based on the knowledge of long-term role players, teachers and youth work experts combined with years of experience gained from international youth exchange projects.

Several test rounds in the last months and very positive feedback from different partners – even actors in formal education like high schools in Germany – showed us that all the effort was well worth it. The book is already in use on a regular base within youth movements across Europe.

We will continuously promote it on different platforms like social media or conventions and use it as our main working tool inside our next youth exchange activities, starting with one mid-November on Malta.

We thank all contributors – mostly volunteers – for their devotion and effort they poured into that project, even through the additional struggles due to the pandemic.

We are also grateful that we can provide this book as a fully free-of-charge online PDF due to Erasmus+ funding. You can download the book and additional material at https://era.eduproject.eu.
